The ideal candidate will have prior experience with elderly patients and an understanding of the difficulties they face while living on their own.
This person will be responsible for assisting elderly patients with daily tasks, including housework and errands, but their primary goal is to ensure the happiness and well-being of their patients.
Responsibilities:
Conform to standard safety protocols.
Know and comply with applicable laws, rules and regulations and complete appropriate paperwork when needed.
Carry out duties to best ensure the comfort and well-being of patients under their care.
Provide personal care, homemaking services, housekeeping and other related care as directed by the patient's physician.
Provide care on an as-needed basis to relieve the primary caretaker of patients who are seriously ill or disabled, who require assistance with activities of daily living such as dressing, bathing, eating meals and moving around in the home environment.
Be able to transport patients by wheelchair or stretcher to and from medical appointments as needed.
Communicate clearly with patients' families and/or caregivers if they are present.
Be able to relate effectively with patients' families and/or caregivers if they are present.
Be available for call-in service on an on-call basis for scheduled shifts.
Deal effectively with stressful situations such as death or serious illness.
