Registered Nurse (Cardiology)

The Interventional Clinic Cardiology RN is directly responsible to the Nurse Manager of the Interventional Clinics and is responsible for collaborating with other health members to develop, implement and coordinate patient care delivery to acheive maximum quality, patient centered care, positive patient outcomes and appropriate utilization of resources to a culturally diverse Veteran patient population.
The RN possesses the competence, knowledge and skills to effectively apply all aspects of the nursing process within a collaborative, interdisciplinary practice setting, which will enable effective implementation of health promotion and prevention practices, management of acute and chronic mental illnesses, and attainment of optimal levels of functioning and/or support of the significant others.
Role responsibilities and accountabilities also include demonstration of knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the population related needs of patients served in the assigned area of practice.
This knowledge includes understanding changes associated with aging and special populations, i.
e.
, OIF/OEF, Vietnam, Desert Shield / Storm, Korean, WWII, Iraq, etc.
The Cardiology Nurse will provide care to male and female Veteran's in an ambulatory care setting in the Cardiology Clinic as well as the Medical Clinics.
Nursing care for patients will predominately be provided in the Cardiology Department including areas where requested to assist in Radiology, Infectious Disease, Infusion, Oncology and Nurse Managed Areas.
Commonly performed procedures that the Cardiology Nurse will perform to ensure evidence based care and continuity as a fundamental cornerstone to this practice:
TEE/Cardioversion Room, protocol, functioning, set-up, assisting and supply and resupply of room.
Familiarity with appropriate specimen collection, laboratory results, critical values/parameters and follow up protocols in collaboration with providers.
A firm working knowledge of treatment, care, evidence based nursing/medical protocols and management of Cardiac Procedures and Moderate Sedation.

BLS/ACLSThis is not an all inclusive list, the expectation of the Cardiology Nurse is to expand their knowledge base to encompass the full spectrum of treatment, pre and post procedural care and potential negative outcomes associated with cardiac procedures.
Work Schedule:
Shift, weekend, and holiday rotation is required.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
