Advanced Paint (Coatings) Process Engineer Job Description
This position will evaluate, develop and improve coating applications including; liquid, e-coat and powder paint processes in addition to emerging technologies to optimize quality, cost and performance.
Essential Duties &
Responsibilities:
Assists the Operations and Manufacturing team with the development, justification, and execution of long range plans to meet corporate objectives, including transitioning to right sizing of systems to support lean initiatives. Research, develop and implement tools and processes to improve paint system performance, including but not limited to quality, uptime and cost. Applies diversified knowledge of materials, paint chemistry and processing windows to support product launches and initiative is required providing process troubleshooting support to coating processes and implement effective
countermeasures. Implementation of process control plans in all paint process areas. Function as technical liaison between purchasing, engineering, manufacturing and suppliers to resolve quality issues, drive appearance improvement and defect reduction. Implement and monitor advanced quality planning and provide technical support when and where needed.
Research new processes & manufacturing technologies, coordinate procurement and
implementation into manufacturing. Drive safety improvements in all paint process areas.
Promote quality, continuous improvement, preventative maintenance, good housekeeping, and safety practices. Prepare budgets for new products and yearly budget items for department on equipment repairs and necessary improvement to achieve the set targets of safety, quality and cost.
Skills & Knowledge:
BS I MS degree in Chemical and/or Manufacturing Engineering 7
years manufacturing experience
Technical Skills: PFMEA development and assessment Demonstrated expertise in automotive component painting technology and processes.
Experience with manual and automated liquid paint application.
Experience with manual and automated powder paint application
Equipment specification, ordering, run-off, installation and qualification Equipment and systems budget planning and tracking
Strong computer skills with ability to quickly learn new software/applications Value Stream Mapping and Process Optimization Project management - plan, develop and execute High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult.

Salary Target:75,000.00 USD-United States Dollar AnnuallyEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
