Chief of Staff

The overall responsibilities of the Chief of Staff typically include, but are not limited to:
Ensure high quality patient care is delivered in a resource efficient manner. Promote the development of health care professionals within the Salisbury VA Healthcare System through counseling, mentoring, teaching and encouraging self-assessment. Monitor and promote compliance with VHA regulations and professional standards and ethical conduct. Work as an Executive Leader to ensure that the Salisbury VA Healthcare System programs reflect the mission and priorities of the VHA and VA as well as take a participatory role as a leadership team member, providing counsel in defining and accomplishing the health system's mission and goals. Ensure the quality of certified professional staff being recruited and hired through a credentialing and privileging process that meets VA and Joint Commission requirements. Ensure all employees reporting under the Office of the Chief of Staff follow regulations pertaining to internal and external professional activities as well as conflict of interest considerations. Ensure appropriate systems are in place to review, analyze, and evaluate patient care activities and that corrective actions are initiated and carried out as needed. Monitor and ensure medical staff compliance with agency regulations, medical staff bylaws, Salisbury VA Healthcare System policies, pertinent Joint Commission standards, and other appropriate regulations as they apply. Create an environment of system-oriented continuous quality improvement, within which programs and quality of care effectiveness are evaluated. Ensure clinical, education, and research programs that complement the primary mission of patient care are established, maintained, and reviewed regularly. Participate in the development of long and short-term goals in support of VISN/VHA mission and goals. Participate in allocation of SVAHCS resources and modification of programs to best meet the needs of the Veteran population, including space allocation for patient care, research and education programs. Monitor adherence to medical ethical standards of the professional staff. Act as professional health care liaison with other VA and non-VA facilities, other federal facilities and entities as well as community facilities and organizations. Establish and maintain effective harmonious relationships with VSO, local communities, civic, professional and other related organizations. As the COS of a dean's committee facility, is a key member of the Partnership Affiliation Council and maintains a solid working relationship with affiliated medical schools. The Chief of Staff is expected to remain privileged and practicing in their specialty field. Privileges are considered through the Professional Standards Board, presented at the Medical Executive Committee and approved by the Medical Center Director. Work Schedule:

United States Citizenship:
Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. Experience:
Significant and progressive leadership, mentorship, and management experience in a tertiary care environment. Strong health care operations and planning experience. Experience with LEAN, High Reliability Organization principles, and system redesign principles- preferably Green or Black Belt Certified. Ability to promote innovation, inspire organizational excellence, be able to build teams, coach clinical leaders, and engage the workforce. Knowledge of VHA and other accrediting bodies' standards and regulations. Ability to provide and model strong ethical character and professional conduct. Clinical and administrative experience in Veterans Health Administration. Reference:

Position requires moderate lifting, pushing and pulling:
reaching above the shoulders; walking and standing; kneeling and repeated bending. All applicants must be physically and mentally stable to perform efficiently the duties of the position.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
